When My Life and Loves was first published, it was immediately banned throughout the English-speaking world. In the US the suppression created a market for smuggled copies, which was subsequently also met by locally printed volumes created under conditions of secrecy. Some of these were produced with Frank Harris’s blessing, many were not.

The Censored podcast covered My Life and Loves back in March 2023. In a lively and entertaining review, Aoife Bhreatnach gave the old boy a well-deserved kicking. We may regret that she only chose to read (and review) volume 1, though since it was not to her taste it would be dishonest to pretend she might like the other volumes better.
